Canvas Moon is a small, intimate and secluded luxury glamping experience, located near the Serra Da Estrela Mountains and Mondego River in Central Portugal.
We have two Luxury Bell Tents both measuring 5 metres in diameter, located in secluded surroundings sheltered by pine forest with fantastic views of the mountains. The terraces are landscaped with tropical plants, palms, fruit trees, vines and pathways and is a tranquil and relaxing location.
Other facilities we provide are Zeer Pots for keeping your food cool (NEW 2011 - Zeer pots will be re-placed by a Coleman Xtreme Cool box, These coolers provide superior cold retention thanks to their thick wall performance PU insulation, you can keep ice cold for up to 5 days even when temperatures soar to over 32oC) Kelly Kettles for boiling water, both are Eco Friendly as they use no power. We also provide recycling facilities for all your waste, and lighting is provided around the retreat via solar power, just incase nature calls in the middle of the night, your pathway will be lit..
      
Bamboo showers are provided, using water collected from the local mountain spring, which is heated by the sun. These showers can reach upto 42 degrees providing lovely hot showers. We do provide a limited amount of Eco Friendly products, but we do ask if you can kindly try and bring your own Eco Friendly products where possible.
Our compost toilets are built to a high standard with some artistic flair! and uses no water. It has a urine seperator under the lid, which means the toilet is virtually smell free, apart from the fresh pine sawdust which is sprinkled over the other hole when used, again, to eliminate odours. This is an extremely environmentally friendly toilet which saves thousands of litres of water every year. Our toilet is kept very clean and is maintained regularly which adds to a great glamping experience.
There is good mobile phone and 3G reception on site, if you require your phone to be charged you can do so using our freeloader solar mobile phone charger.
On the middle terrace is an Al Fresco eating area, with a BBQ and seating area, and a fantastic view of the mountains. The area is covered with a canopy enabling you to escape the powerful sun's rays and enjoy your meal. BBQ utensils are provided along with a washing up area, grey water from the sinks can be used to water our plants and flowers.
In the evening when it is cooler you can enjoy a game of Badminton on our sand court or a Boules game on our Mini Boules court.
